Weigh In
Health and fitness have been a really big part of my life lately. I think it really kicks in once you have kids. For one, your body just isn't the same and two, you want your kid to start with a healthy lifestyle. This year we made the "Organic leap" in a lot of our food while also trying to cut out a lot of junk foods. Luckily, our sons love fruits and veggies. I feel so much better knowing my family is eating less preservatives in our daily foods, but we've also have gotten more active as a family. For just a little over a week now, we've walked/jogged a mile a day. All last week was a mile, and this week I've pushed it to 1.5 miles. My goal is to one day be able to run a whole 5k. I have really bad shin problems so it'll take a lot of work building up to that and weight loss for sure. For any other moms out there, I know it can be tough to fit in any workout. I've learned to just go with my day and when I get the time, I just do it! Whether it's early in the morning when the hubby is getting ready for work and the kiddos are still asleep, after lunch before nap time (for our youngest son) with the kiddos in tow (Thank God for double strollers, but pushing 50+ lbs is a workout itself!), or in the evening with all of us going for a walk together (it's a plus when you have your hubby to take turns pushing the stroller 😉).
It hasn't been easy any time I take my jog, but I've pushed through it. Last Monday was my first day at it and I completed one mile in 23 minutes. Yesterday for 1.5 miles it was 25 minutes. Still not the best, but there's definite progress!
Along with my daily jog, I've committed myself to the 15 Day Mommy Challenge (I'll link below). Let me tell you, if you're out of shape like me...it's definitely a workout! I love them though. They take close to 30 minutes a day (not bad at all!) and they have intervals, so each set goes by pretty quickly. I've really enjoyed it and can see a difference already! I'm only on R1D10 (round 1 day 10) and I look forward to see my results at the end of this round.

To help me eat wisely, I use My Fitness Pal. I have for years, but lately it's been my go to everyday to keep up with my calories, exercise, and water intake daily.
