St. Louis Weekend Trip

A couple weekends ago, we took a trip to St. Loius, MO. It was a weekend getaway for my husband's birthday, but we ended up doing things mainly for our boys! 😂
After arriving Saturday morning we headed to the Science Center. Neither one of us had been since we were little kids, and our own kids had never been. The boys both enjoyed it so much. Roman loves anything that has to do with learning, so I knew this was a great place to take him! He enjoyed it a little more than Axel, since a lot of the activities were great for Roman's age, but not so much for Axel's. Axel was also fighting sleep most of the day. Poor little guy.
Roman has gotten so sweet with Axel lately. He realizes that
his little brother is growing and is now able to understand
and communicate better with him. It is such a joy to
experience and watch!

I remember being so scared of this dinosaur when I was little because it was super big! It's crazy
how much your perspective changes from a young child to an adult. I loved seeing
our own kids' reaction to it and how big it was to them!

Axel wasn't too sure about it, but never fussed.

Roman was amazed!

Roman has such a big heart. Here he was asking the wounded
dinosaur if he was okay!
  ðŸ’“

Poor little guy trying to keep up with everything, but getting
so sleepy! 😴

Feeling some high winds with Daddy. I was
actually really surprised by how much Roman
enjoyed this. He's usually funny about things that
he has to get inside of.

Our next stop in the Science Center was Build-a-Bear. I've wanted to
do this with Roman for so long, but I really wanted him to be a good age so he
would remember the experience! Axel won't remember like Roman, but we couldn't
leave him out. Roman wanted a green dinosaur and we chose the brown/orange one for
Axel.

Spike (Roman's) and Dino (Axel's).

Axel & Dino.

Roman & Spike.

Yes.. That's our wild child.. 😳

Roman loved all of the learning exhibits!

As you can tell this was one of Roman's favorite things to do here!

The boys going across the bridge.

Still fighting sleep! 😴

Our view at "snack time."

Snack time at The Loft.

The boys "being patient" while we wait for our discovery play time in the activity room.
Goofy boy!

In the discovery kid room was this big aquarium. The boys loved
it, and Roman was pretty excited to see Dory!

This was the cutest thing ever! A shadow room where the boys played together.

Not going to lie.. I literally wanted to cry at this cuteness!

Roman loved the handkerchiefs flying up the tube into the air!

We even got an art session into this busy day!

Axel was pretty much done after fighting a nap the whole time, so we said our
goodbyes to the big dinosaur and headed to the hotel.

I really recommend this place if you have kids of any age!
It was a great experience even for James and me!

Chilling in the hotel room with our new pet dinosaurs!  After resting up, we headed to the Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner and then a horse and carriage ride around downtown with Larry and his horse Earl!

Sunday, our plan was to go see the Arch. We've only been once before (up in it) as a family when Roman was about 8 months old. Sadly, they were sold out of tickets this day and the land around the arch was under a lot of construction. The view was still beautiful.

Our crazy child ran away from us so he could walk through all of the bike parking circles. 😂

One of the best "selfies" we could get!
Since tickets were sold out, we spent the rest of the day doing some shopping at Ikea, The Container store, and got some dinner at one of our favorites, San Sai Japanese Grill in Maplewood. Then, we hit the road for home! We had such a good time and it was nice getting a break from home, work, and orders! The trip was a pretty relaxing time besides leaving one of our sons' backpacks on the carriage after our ride (luckily, Larry was a nice guy that took our backpack inside to the spaghetti factory until we got back to get it!), and not being able to go under or up in the Arch as we had planned.
I love my little family and I'm so glad I get to experience these adventures with them! 💗
