Our 2017 Zoo Trip

Zoo Trip 2017

Every October we take our annual trip to the St. Louis Zoo with our boys. We've planned it out to go the first weekend of the month so we can see the Sting Rays and Sharks before they head south for the winter!

We got to see Tick Tock (Our son Roman has
always loved Jake and the Neverland Pirates that
has Tick Tock Croc from Peter Pan. When we
went to Florida on vacation one year, we got
him a stuffed animal crocodile and every
croc since has been Tick Tock to him.)

Sea Lion Show

It's always a cute little show and really is a must-see if you have little ones. Axel made it through pretty well, but was getting a little tired of sitting still towards the end. Roman can't sit still through the whole thing either, but the music they use keeps him more entertained through it!

Sting Rays & Sharks

This is one of our favorites. The boys love this part every year! The wait in line was a little intense this year, but it was so worth it to see how excited the boys got once they saw the Rays and Sharks. We still feel they're too young to feed them, but they love petting them.

We got to see a couple of the big cats (the others must have been sleeping somewhere), but we unfortunately didn't get any good pictures of them! 

Sea Lion Tunnel

We also love the water tunnel, but it's hard to really enjoy it on busy days. You just feel too rushed and can't get the best pictures. The boys still loved it!

Snacks and drinks are always a must for our zoo trips! 

The River's Edge

Roman always likes following the hippo feet that are painted on the path to the river's edge. 

The elephants were amazing this year. There were more out than there normally is. 

No zoo trip is complete without all our annual pictures. What started out as a picture and memory I had at this same zoo as a kid has now been a picture tradition I've had every year with my babies. Starting in 2013 when Roman was just 2.5 months old to now with our 4 year old Roman and our 1 year old Axel (little Axel was asleep in both of his pictures...this year and last!)

We've also recreated this picture with James and the boys every year. This year was a little challenging because by this time (when we were leaving) both boys were exhausted and we were worn out so they stayed in the stroller.
