Lazy L Safari 2017
Lazy L Safari 2017
Last year we came across this little walk-through safari by Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Axel was too little last year to really enjoy the animals, but he loved being outside. Roman on the other hand absolutely loved it and I've been so excited to take him back this year! The weather was a lot nicer last year, but it wasn't too bad this year we just had to wear jackets. Both boys had such a good time! You get to go into the pen to feed and pet the goats. Roman was brave again this year and went right in. Not only did he feed the goats, but he also fed some deer! Axel surprised me by wanting to feed the goats! He sat in a stroller and just kept reaching for them. Once I moved him close enough and gave him a piece of their food (I had to stop him from eating it himself a few times) he reached out and gave it to them.
Both boys are a little scared of the birds. They both will go in, but neither one of them will hold the sticks with the bird seeds on them. This is one of my favorites here. As soon as you walk in with the feeder sticks they swarm you! It's so amazing to have that many birds land on you. The boys thought they were so cool, but still kept their distance. Well Axel tried grabbing a few of them, but he didn't care too much for them to actually land on him.
The camel would have to be another favorite. This camel will follow you if you show him attention and/or feed him. He didn't want us to leave him and feeding a camel is quite an experience! The most eventful and terrifying feeding experience had to the little emu that pecked at you.
They also have the cutest little hedgehogs and this year even a lemur! Another exciting part of our trip besides all the fall/halloween decorations and games was that the boys got to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse! Once it was our turn Axel sat right in the middle of them, but when we asked Roman if he wanted to his reply was "no uh uh", so thankfully the kind family behind us took a family shot with Roman in it. He did keep his eye on them and would smile when they waved. Axel on the other hand had his eyes glued on Mickey. He's a huge fan, but the poor little guy was teething (getting a molar!) and wasn't feeling like his normal self.
This year was another success and I'm so glad the boys loved it so much! If you're ever in the Cape area and need a family-friendly place to go I recommend this! They have so many pretty animals and it's never too crowded.
