8 Years // Living The Married Life

8 Years // Living The Married Life

Today, May 29th marks 8 years of being together and 4 years of being Mrs. James Hunt.
Marriage is definitely a learning process. Our four years before marriage still weren't the easiest. We were kids growing up together while still finding ourselves. While it is ideal and nice to have someone so special for that long it is no doubt one of the hardest tasks in life. You grow into new people while still loving and holding on to what you once were. Then it is the make it or break it part of figuring out if you can love the other for their flaws and for the person the have grown into for the past four years. We both said "I do" and put our differences aside. We already had our son and then another son two years after getting married. I never thought the process of combining your life with another while raising two little humans that you created together would be so hard! So much fun, but definitely tiring. You give up a lot, you grow up a lot, and balancing time for yourself is tricky. Our biggest struggle is finding enough time for US, just the two of us as a couple again. Kids, work, holidays, birthdays, life, etc.. Those make it so easy to forgot whats important and what needs more attention at the moment. Sometimes you have to hit pause in life and find those opportunities to hold each other a little longer, netflix & chill together, drown out the kids play shrill yelling and their destroying of the house you just cleaned to have a one-on-one conversation with each other, go for a drive to clam the kids so you can have quiet time to talk about whats on your mind, or stay up super late talking about pointless things even though your body and mind will regret it early the next morning. My advice, from experience of loving someone for the past 8 years, is to find time for each other over everything. Beyond that I always say "be open and honest" and you'll get that in return.
Our relationship, family, home, etc. isn't perfect, but we make up for that with our love.

8 very challenging, fun, tiring, special, fast-paced, beautiful years with you and I still say "we can do this."
I love you James. Happy 8th Anniversary!
