Axel James // 3 Years Old

Axel James // 3 Years Old

If you know me or my family then you probably are wondering about this post, since Axel turned 3 in May, but being me you know I don't want to miss a post especially if it has to do with my kiddos.
I love birthday post not only because I get to brag on my little one, but also because I love being able to share their birthday party with you. I have so much fun getting ready for their parties. After they pick a theme I start in on the planning and finding every idea I can to go with it. In the past, we would take the party to a fun location and party room, but the last couple years we've kept them in our home and then take the boys somewhere fun the weekend before or after to celebrate them. That way the boys still have their fun trip planned, but no one else feels pressured to travel for parties since there isn't much to do for young kids in our area.

Our little Axel has become obsessed with dinosaurs in the last year or so. We even transformed his nursery from foxes and woodland theme to a big boy room filled with dinosaurs (blog coming soon on their new room themes, but there is a little sneak peek of Axel's below). Although he loves Dumbo and literally was watching it every night we decided to go with the dinosaur route. He still snuggles his stuffed elephant, Dumbo every night, but he was so excited to see all the dinosaur stuff at his party. I would love to give you guys the break down on everything and where to find it all, but it has been since May so I'm a little foggy on where we ordered some of it.  I can say most of it was party packs on Amazon. We ordered the extra banner (hanging over the window) on Amazon as well. His cupcake toppers were from Etsy from the same shop we ordered his invites from. As you can see the food was pretty simple and easy for this theme and we didn't have to put a lot of thought into it besides trying to form the cheese ball and rice crispy treats into "dino eggs." Although I think we got away with the cheese ball doing okay James' task of forming the rice crispies ended after about 5 eggs. Haha!
Axel's dino shirt was ordered off Amazon, but his #3 with photos was made by myself and I also made his dinosaur bone dirt cake, which I plan to blog about both very soon. I will link them in this blog once I get to them. You can also check out the Vlog I finally have posted that shows how to's on the cake and some of how I do the numbers.

Now for a mushy post for my baby boy. He has grown so much over the past year and continues to amaze us every day with how funny, smart, and loving he is. While he can be the sweetest little boy ever just like any 3 year old he is a handful and loves to pester! That's what makes him a fun little brother, right? ha! He is very mischevious like his brother and stubborn. At this point, I'm pretty sure any kids we have would be. He isn't doing so well with the potty training task and Mommy is starting to pull her hair out. He reminds me it's so much more fun to go potty on the floor...

This little guy has a couple more years at home with mommy learning shapes, colors, numbers, and so on until school. He's done very well and knows how to count to 10, most of his basic shapes, and colors as well! His big brother Roman is about to head to kindergarten while I think he will miss him like crazy the time apart will do some good and not to mention fewer fights! Haha... He loves chicky (a baby chick that gets himself into trouble over and over) and although it's a cute little show I find myself having to restart this 6 minute show for him over and over (the joy of having parental lock on their TVs after they starting buying every movie on Amazon) when it goes off.

I can't wait to see all the new experiences we'll have with him and all the new things he'll learn this coming year!
