Holiday Season // 2019
Holiday Season // 2019
I want to first say I hope you all have had a great holiday season and I hope you're looking forward to the new year! I apologize for so many personal posts back to back lately, but I promise more content is coming this week and they will be back to the normal schedule!
This holiday season has been busy, stressful, full of anxiety, but still better than previous ones. I let go more of the pointless things and tried to live more in the moment (hence the lack of staying consistent on all my platforms) and it was really what I needed. While I still continue to gain control over my anxiety and depression I have seen such a growth in myself within the last few months that sparks a lot of joy for me!
I think decorating the trees, listening to Christmas music, and overall feeling the Christmas magic helps tremendously during this time of year, but seeing our boys so happy doing these activities helps the most. We usually get our trees up as fast as possible and wait a little too long until we take them down. Haha!
The boys always enjoy our Elf on the Shelf Buddy, seeing Santa, and making out their Christmas lists to Santa. Our elf, Buddy, did some funny things this year that you can see in our Vlog and my Elf on the Shelf Shenanigans blog. Roman looks forward to seeing Santa every year, but Axel, on the other hand, does not! Haha... Each year it's the same frighten face in photos and this year Axel clawed me and wasn't going to let go! You win some and you lose some... Axel did participate in his Christmas list of toys though!
Roman is in Kindergarten so this year was a first for us with Christmas Spirit Week and a school Christmas party! He got to dress like an elf, the Grinch, a snowman, a reindeer, and the last day before the break (also Christmas party day) he got to wear his PJs to school which he thought was pretty cool.
Did I mention we also have a fifth member of the family now? Yup. We got a puppy!
What was supposed to be a BIG Christmas present for the boys (still was but...) we ended up getting a couple weeks early due to her momma being done nursing her. She has done great for being so young. The boys have named her Riley and we now have another girl in the family. It's been a huge adjustment with potty training and getting into the swing of things with her (thank God for Christmas break!) but we're getting it down.
As we prepared for Christmas we enjoyed peppermint sticks with lemons, and I had too many coffees with marshmallows! On Christmas Eve the boys made some cookies for Santa, ate some of those cookies with milk, sprinkled reindeer food outside, we read some Christmas stories while the boys had on their Grinch PJs from Buddy the elf, and lastly, we saved some cookies and milk for Santa before the boys were off to bed!
Christmas morning came and Roman was ready while Axel wanted to catch a few more z's. We finally convinced him it was time to open presents! They had so much fun and we spent the rest of the day with family for Christmas dinner. I feel so blessed and really enjoyed the end of this year. In ways, I feel like I'm closing a chapter and I'm okay with it. I'm ready to take on 2020! <3
