Under The Sea // Sensory/Activity Bin

Under The Sea // Sensory/Activity Bin

What better time for sensory/activity bins then now right? I did want to take the time to say I hope you all are safe and staying home (if you are able to) and also a huge THANK YOU to all medical workers out there doing amazing things. These times are crazy, but I hope I can take your mind away from hard times by sharing my hobbies and what I am up to with you. I also hope this idea comes in handy for your little ones. I will link items I used for this bin but I do realize some products are no longer shipping on Amazon due to the quarantine. The good thing about this bin is that it doesn't take a lot and you could easily get these items when you make a quick trip to the store while getting other essential items you were needing. With that being said it is best to order online to keep from getting out during this time. I, fortunately, got all these items a few weeks ago before the madness when our schedules were busy and I hadn't had time to put it together.

What I used is one good-sized storage tote for the bin. The size depends on how many Orbeez you use. I linked the size Orbeezs that I used. I couldn't find the exact ones I had on hand because I believe they came from a kit. I used two smaller vials of dried Orbeez that I had to soak in water overnight to form into actual Orbeez. You can get the premade ones or kits to make your own. Amazon has some options there. I used a vial of clear and a vial of two different blues mixed to form an "Under the Sea" look to it. The container/storage tote I used is a 6 quart and it held this amount of Orbeezs very well. I also like this size because it fits well in our closet filled with sensory bins and stacks nicely. Plus if you have two little ones you know the struggle of teaching to share. This is a nice size for my boys to be able to play nicely together with enough space for both of them. The Ocean World Animals I got from Amazon had a good variety of 52 figurines that filled up space and offered plenty of playtime!
Books are optional, but definitely is something to help keep them entertained and it also is a learning experience. Any books about sea animals, sea world, etc. work! I plan to teach my boys about different oceans with it, but for now books like 'Finding Nemo,' 'Finding Dory,' and a favorite 'Pout Pout Fish' are what we're reading.

Do your little ones enjoy sensory/activity bins? Mine sure do and apparently our dog, Riley does too. She couldn't keep her eyes off them and wanted in on the fun so bad! This bin is super easy to throw together and offers hours of playtime and slight messes... Haha!
