Jumbo Shrimp Spicy Stir-Fry \\ Sirt Food

Jumbo Shrimp Spicy Stir-Fry \\ Sirt Food

This was the very first "sirt" food meal I made/ate. I was very cautious about it. I  thought it was going to be challenging since the ingredients (well some of them) are ingredients I don't normally cook with. I'm happy to say this was a super easy dinner to make and the taste is so good! You do have to have a liking for spicy tai, but it is so good we have made it again since and plan to again soon! It is a "cheat meal" without actually "cheating."

I started the Sirt food detox/diet last week and I'm blown away with the results. Don't worry a full blog post is coming and so is a lot more recipes that I have tweaked so they're easier to make and easier to find the ingredients for. I will link that blog here when I post it.

I'm sure you could google other ways to make this, but  I tweaked it to our liking while keeping it a "sirt" meal.

*This recipe is one servings size while on the "sirt" food detox/diet. I doubled it for my husband and I, but heads up the servings of this are huge!

Ingredient List:

  • 7.5 oz. raw jumbo shrimp, shelled
  • 2 Tsp. soy sauce
  • 2 Tsp. olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 bird's eye chili, finely chopped
  • 1 Tsp. ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 oz. red onion, sliced
  • 1.5 oz. celery, sliced
  • 2.5 oz. green beans, chopped
  • 1.5 oz. kale, chopped
  • 4 fl. oz. chicken broth
  • 2.5 oz. soba (buckwheat noodles)
  • a pinch of celery leaves - weird I know!

Cooking Instructions:

In a skillet cook jumbo shrimp on high heat in 1 Tsp. soy sauce and 1 Tsp. oil. This should take 5 minutes max. You don't want to over cook them or they become rubbery textured. Then set aside.

Add the other Tsp. oil to the skillet. Stir-fry the garlic, bird's eye chili, ginger, red onion, celery, beans and kale for a few minutes on high heat. You want them partially cooked before adding the broth. When you add the broth, bring to the boil, then simmer until everything is cooked but still crunchy.

3 The soba I used (link below) instructed me to boil water in a pot like I'm making spaghetti noodles. Once boiling, add soba noodles and let boil for 5 minutes. They're almost instantly cooked so 5 minutes was plenty! Drain and rinse with cold water to stop from cooking further. Add the celery leaves, noodles, and shrimp to the skillet of veggies. Bring back to the boil, then remove from the heat and serve.

I mentioned already, but the serving sizes are huge! We usually have plenty of leftovers for our lunch the next day. Which isn't allowed on the 7 day detox if you eat this on day one, but once you get past 7 days, if you decide this lifestyle of food is right for you too, you can have your leftovers for lunch the next day too.

Again that blog will be coming of the 7 day detox/diet.

I used:

These bird's eye chilis

These soba buckwheat noodles
