Our New Pets | Wendy & Ludwig

Today's blog is a short one, but I wanted to spotlight our new friends. Wendy & Ludwig (can you tell our boys love Mario & the Koopa kids with these names?! Haha) are new to the family. They're local water turtles. We've had them for a couple months now and absolutely love them. I had water turtles growing up and loved watching them swim, feeding them out of my hands, and overall I just love turtles. So when my mom asked if I wanted some for the boys I couldn't say no. They haven't found them as interesting as I do (hahaha), but they had fun naming them and watching them swim around. They're super cute pets and I can't wait to watch them grow and once they get a little bigger moving them into a bigger aquarium. They currently eat the food sticks you can find at a pet shop, but those are only suppose to be like 20% of their diet. That is at least what I read online. So I looked more into it and found some dried shrimp for turtles and they LOVE them. The crickets I got they didn't like as much haha. I don't blame them, but they also LOVE worms. When I was working in the flowerbed, early summer, and would find some worms I would get so excited to bring them to the turtles. They go crazy. You just have to watch their diets because they love to over eat. They also love to sun bathe which is super cute as they perch on their rocks with their legs stretched out. Hahaha
