Back To School | 2020-21
One and a half weeks down already in this school year! It definitely is a hard one, but not for reasons we thought. If you read my blog on Roman's Kindergarten Graduation then you know a little more about what we would've been worried about. Roman has been a rockstar this year! He is the same hardworking, kind, and happy little boy as last year. The worries I had of being out of school since March and also starting on a Monday were taken away when he zoomed through the first week like a champ! Although he does ask to stay with me or for me to come with him some mornings still.. He still amazes me with his bravery each morning. I know it is hard for him, but he does it happily. He really is enjoying his new school and 1st grade. Our concerns are still there for the pandemic, but with Roman we knew the best route was school. He needs the socializing and routines. It would throw off any future plans of school if we made a different choice. With that being said, we've taken every precaution with him and know this year will be tricky. We got this. Open house appointments were different and so was not being able to walk my baby in on his first day. A lot of challenges come with this year.
Axel, on the other hand, started Pre-K but at home. I did Roman's Pre-K at home as well so I wanted to give Axel that extra year too. He has done great getting into a school routine in his mornings that he zooms through in 1-2 hours. In just a week I can tell a huge difference in how he traces his name. He wanted a backpack like his big brother and was very eager about school. So unlike Roman, he will be starting Kindergarten next year as a 5 year old. Luckily his birthday is in May so it works out for him to start at 5. After the first day of dropping Roman off at school this year we pulled into the driveway and Axel said "ugh mommy I want to go to school like Roman!" It was too funny! The Koopa Kids ride with us most days to and from drop off and pick up. You can see Axel's mood is very much like Wendy's. Hahaha.
