Roman is 8 | Birthday Blog
Happy 8th to the boy that made me a mom <3 he changed my life and put sunshine back into it. I love watching you grow and I'm so happy I get a lifetime with you.
For a child who wins my heart over day after day, we sure do butt heads like no other. I realize each day although he is so much like his daddy he has my stubbornness and determination. It may not always be a good thing but I have to say that stubbornness has helped me push the limits a lot more in life. He sets his mind to something and there's no stopping him. He continues to shine in school. Another year has come and started with nerves but he has adapted amazingly in a new class, with new students, and a new teacher better than ever before, which is huge for him. He still loves learning and blows us away by how fast his little brain takes everything in. I swear he has a photogenic memory. He can literally tell you what he did on this exact day last year. It is insane. He memorizes things faster than I've ever seen and enjoys it even though I sometimes worry.
He has been consumed with Super Smash Bros and Pokemon lately. He is also showing interest in soccer again... Will I become a soccer mom again?! But overall, he loves being a big brother and is a little too bossy to his brother. Axel doesn't seem to mind for the most part...
What can I say? This child makes me proud. He has again overcome so much more than we thought possible. He has tested/past two (soon to be three) Taekwondo belts and lost his first tooth! He freaked out for weeks over this loose tooth then he came home one day from school with it gone! He had bit into a pickle at lunch and it popped right out. He then forgot and left it on the table... *facepalm* Soon after the next tooth was loose and it was the same ordeal. He let it get so loose that it hurt to eat. It took some convincing but he finally let me pull it out. He whined before I even touched the tooth and then it came right out and he suddenly stopped like he couldn't believe that was it. Haha!
We took a little trip to STL for his birthday. He was super excited to go away for the weekend and visit the Science Center. We had a birthday dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory, spent the night in a hotel, and then spent a full day playing and learning at the Science Center.
We then went back home to celebrate with cake and decorations. He chose Odd Bods and rainbow colors to have a very colorful birthday. We had a snack plate of every color even though it was just the four of us. He loved how it turned out and had a great day.
Soon after it was back into the swing of things with school. I can't believe we have a second grader! What?! The beginning was a little nerve-wracking, but he has pulled through and is loving second grade.
xx - Ally
